Christmas Centerpiece Ideas

Call them centerpieces, vignettes, or just pretty things...we need them around the house during the Christmas season.

Here are a few I made last year...and I hope they give you some ideas for this year.

Here is a simple coffee table vignette I made last year. I added bits and pieces from around the house.

I love to incorporate my blue and white Chinoiserie and Spode plates into my holiday decorating.

You can go as simple or as intricate as you want in your decorating.

My Thanksgiving Table 2016

We had a lovely Thanksgiving evening hosting my parents, son, and his fiancĂ©e.

Since it was the second meal for everyone else we opted for more of a simple supper. It was more about having time together as a family. Though the carb overload was delicious!

Beginning with a blank slate...a freshly dusted table.

I shared a few pics of my table a few days ago while I was in the process of putting it together.

I have to say that I think this tablescape works for not only fall/Thanksgiving but the Christmas season too...if you want to copy it. :-)

I began with a folded ivory tablecloth as my table runner. I then added branches of faux pine greenery. If you have fresh that would be even nicer. After the greenery I chose to make a bow and ribbon to tuck into the greenery.

I added candlesticks and tapers since we were eating after sunfall...around 5:00. ha!  Everyone looks wonderful by candlelight.

A Christmas Gift Idea

I want to share a new sponsor with you.

Jingle Nog, is the maker of fine European glass ornaments, designed by Melissa Byrne.

I have spent so much fun time looking over their online catalog enjoying the delightful selection of hand made glass Christmas ornaments.

There is an ornament for every possible interest.
Young or old...there are the cutest and the prettiest ornaments.

A traditional Christmas sleigh for your tree.

Something for that patriotic person in your life.

This may be my personal favorite...
love English pups!

And Santa...always special.

Something for those who have a soft spot for the sixties!

And here is a very regal looking nutcracker ornament.

And for that special baby celebrating a first Christmas.

Each ornament comes in a pretty gift box.

I follow Jingle Nog on Instagram...and catch all of the latest designs.

Here are a few more special ornaments that I love...

If I were told that I could pick out three of my most favorite I would have a difficult time choosing. I love most of them!  I have been showing them to family and friends, and now you.

There are so many categories from which to choose.

Creating a Traditional Holiday Home

Featured at The Dedicated House

It's no secret that I love traditional style, especially if it has an English/federal flavor!

I have flirted with transitional style, and even "almost" country style...

...but what makes my heart go "pitter patter" is traditional style.

I love the plates!

Thanksgiving Vignettes Tour, Giving Thanks

Welcome to the
Thoughts of Home...
Stunning Thanksgiving Vignettes Tour

thanksgiving tablescape

Welcome to my home today!

I am joining a great group of bloggers today to give you some inspiration for decorating your home and tables.

I want to thank the Thoughts of Home girls for including me in this tour. I am honored to be here with so many talented ladies.

I had such fun creating a Thanksgiving vignette/tablescape for the tour.

In fact, I went a little crazy creating a tablescape for a thanksgiving buffet. It just kept growing in size as I went into creative mode. One thing you will notice at my house is that I use color, and lots of it. :-)

When our family gets together we usually serve the food buffet style...then take our plates of food to another location to sit down and eat.

Gobble till you wobble!
At our house, all of us gather around the food laden table to give thanks for all we have, before picking up a plate. Hubby usually says the blessing.

I am calling this my "Giving Thanks, Receiving Grace" table. Thanksgiving is a time when we think about our blessings, and give thanks for them.

Let me show you how I go about creating my "giving thanks" buffet table.

Thanksgiving tablescape

I begin by placing a wide roll of heavy brown craft paper (thick postal package paper) as a table runner on the backside of my table. It protects my tabletop from decorations and the rough bottoms of my serving pieces. (You might want to use two strips to cover your whole table.)

Preparing Bedrooms for the Holidays

Here we are rolling right through November!

Can you believe it?!

'Tis the season to begin preparing for friends and family to be in and out of the house.

Some of them will be spending the night and that means we need fresh beds and bedrooms for them. Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here in a flash.

I am not in full Christmas decorating mode, but rather in full thinking and planning mode.

Bloggers have to get ahead...just like magazines because we want to share ideas with you!
